In 2018, on September 27,YSU Ijevan Branch Directorate session was held under the supervision of A. Cuculyan to monitor YSU IB examination of 2017-2018 academic year (full-time and part-time learning), to discuss branch subdivisions work plans of the 2018-2019 academic year, literature replenishment and a number of current issues.

Head of the Educational-Methodological Department A. Davtyan summed up the results of YSU IB 2017-2018 academic year.

Particularly, it was mentioned that 491 students of full-time system of education and 808 students of part-time learning system participated in the 2017-2018 academic year spring exam.

Eight students were enrolled in the army of full-time system of education and 28 students of part-time learning system until the end of the liquidation period.

10 students of full-time learning and 35 students of part-time learning have returned from intermission.

As a result of the examination, 3 students of full-time system of education and 22 students of part-time learning system were expelled from YSU Ijevan branch.

At the Directorate meeting, the results of the 2017-2018 academic year were evaluated as satisfactory.

Tshagharyan, Head of the Department of Professional Education Quality Assurance reported on the status of 2018-2019 academic year working plans of branch subdivisions.

The status of the 2018-19 academic year work plans was evaluated as satisfactory.

The head of the library V. Poghosyan presented information on replenishment of YSU IB Library, referring to the library fund as well as electronic resources of the 2017-2018 academic year.

In connection with the literature replenishment process, the deans were instructed to be consistent that within a week head of departments present their department educational literature requirements to the library.

STUDENTS AS ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS OF “CARING FOR EQUALITY” PROGRAM

Within the framework of the “Caring for Equality” program World Vision Armenia (WWF) implemented a regional event on September 26, in 2018.

The representatives of RA Tavush Administrative Region from Department of Family, Women and Children’s Rights Protection, the Coordinators of “Caring for Equality” program of World Vision Armenia Office in Yerevan, the representatives of YSU IB, YSU IB Graduate School and External Partnership Coordinator, Student Council Chairman, students and  other guests.

During the event, one of the main objectives set by WWF was to introduce the participants the issues of gender equality and opportunities for equality, following a photo contest.

The main objective of the “Caring for Equity” program is to promote the prevention of child gender selection in the pre-natal period, in the Armenian communities and families.

The project is planned to be implemented from 2016 to 2019.

Our students also actively took part in the event.

Hrant Gharagyozyan, Chairman of YSU IB Student Scientific Society, who has conducted an online survey evaluating measurements of gender equality, summed up the results in the framework of the “Caring for Equity” program.

Gharagyozyan particularly mentioned that 40 people (students and other young people) took part in the survey from Tavush, 80% of which were from Ijevan and neighboring regions.

The results showed that 51.3% of the respondents often or almost always meet gender discrimination, 39.5% rarely, and 12.8% did not meet such cases.

The Chairman of YSU IB Student Scientific Society added that there is a misunderstanding on the concept of “gender” and the gender issue in Tavush.

Students of the Faculty of Humanities of the YSU IB, twin sisters Diana and Liana Yaralyan made a great performance.

Within the framework of the “Caring for Equity” program, Gurgen Dalian, a fourth-year student of Applied Arts of YSU IB, also made his contribution, he painted an angel’s wing on the wall of a sports school.

Susanne Mirzoyan, 3rd year student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, took the 5th place in a photo contest and was awarded with a certificate and a gift by the organization.

UNIVERSITARIANS AT LITRARY COMPETITION AWARD AND PRESENTATION OF “ARDZAGANK” MAGAZINE

In 2018, on the 25th of September, at the Av. Isahakyan Library of Yerevan, the award ceremony of the short stories and the presentation of the literary-cultural magazine “Ardzagank” took place by the initiative of “Ardzagank” charity  company and its president, translator-literary critic Maro Madoyan-Alajajyan.

Maro Madoyan-Alajajyan, participants of the competition, jury members, writers, artists and readers, as well as employees of YSU Ijevan branch Levon Lachikyan , Slavik Alaverdyan and Lilit Mkrtchyan were present at the event.

First, the contest details have been presented that the contest is held for the second time, the purpose of which is to find new writers and open their way in the field of literature.

This time, dozens of artists, including Slavik Alaverdyan, a lecturer at YSU IB Department of General Mathematics and Natural Sciences, took part in the competition.

The members of the jury, Shakhim Shahinyan and Satenik Yeghiazaryan, summed up the results of the competition.

Two participants received 1st place prize, two participants, 2nd place prize. Another participant was awarded a special prize by Maro Madoyan-Alajajyan.

Other participants received certificates.

Then the presentation of the literary-cultural magazine “Ardzagank” took place with 1st place winning stories of literary competition.

Articles by Valmar, Hripsime Margaryan, Lilit Mkrtchyan, Karine Hakobyan were in the first issue of the magazine, works by Diaspora-Armenian writer Zareh Melkonyan, translations by Maro Madoyan-Alajajyan in the translation section.

Participants of the competition, authors of the magazine, other artists delivered their speech. They thanked the organizers of the competition, particularly Mrs. Maro Madoyan-Alajajyan, congratulated everyone on the release of the magazine and wished fruitful creative activity.

Levon Lachikyan, Assistant of the Department of Tourism Management and Cultural Studies of YSU IB, noted in his speech that he knew Maro from childhood since he was her classmate.

He emphasized the importance of creating such love and interest towards literature and culture through the publication of such magazines.

Associate Professor of Department of Armenian History and Social Sciences of Yerevan State University Ijevan branch. Lilit Mkrtchyan mentioned that in the first issue of the magazine, she touched upon the role of women in the army building and state-building process, and will also work to introduce female public figures in the next issues.

RA Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan delivered a welcoming speech on the occasion of the award and presentation.

At the end of the event, the participants received a collection of articles with the publisher Maro Madoyan-Alajajyan’s inscription and took part in the reception.

Maro Madoyan-Alajajyan is Gyumri theatre expert Razmik Madoyan’s daughter, author of several dozens of publicist articles, essays, short stories and plays. He is a translator of Elif Shafak’s novel, “The Bastard of Istanbul”, the collection of Alice Mano’s “Illusion” short stories, Paul Rudnik’s “I Hate Hamlet” play and other works. He is currently living in the United States, founder and director of “Ardzagank” charitable organization.

INVITATION TO THE FEAST OF THE RELIC OF HOLY CROSS

Dear Universitarians, in 2018, on September 29, from 13:00 to 14:00, we invite you to the Ijevan Fountains Square , to take part in the covenant day of the Relic of Holy Cross from Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to Varaga Monastery, during which you will have the opportunity to pray and receive the blessing of God.

It has been already three years, by the initiative of the Primate of Tavush Diocese, priest Bagrat Galstanyan the cross is transferred from Dilijan to Ijevan-Noyemberyan-Berd-Varaga, so that people have the opportunity to approach and pray.

The Armenian Church celebrates this feast two weeks after the Feast of Exaltation of the Holy Cross, that is- the Sunday during the period of September 25- October 1.

The Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, by the initiative of the Primate of Tavush diocese, Priest Bagrat Galstanyan, organizes a round trip of Holy Relic across the whole Tavush region on the occasion of the Varaga Holy Cross Day, which this year will be celebrated on September 29 and on September 29 morning, the sacred relic of the Lord’s Cross will be solemnly taken from Holy Ejmiadzin, a sacred place of pilgrimage of the world-spread Armenians. The day of the Holy Cross was announced as a covenant day for historical Tavush region.

The holy relic will be brought to Dilijan (11: 00-13: 00) and Ijevan (13: 00-14: 00), Noyemberyan (15: 00-17: 00), Berd (19:00) and in the evening, New Varagavank , 3.5 km south-west from the village of Varagavan, Shamshadin region of Tavush Province, on the high rock), where will be a night observation.

On September 30, at 10:00, in the morning, on Varaga Holy Cross Day, the Primate of Tavush diocese, Priest Bagrat Galstanyan will serve the Holy and Divine Liturgy at Varagavank Monastery.

LEADING ARMENIAN DESIGNER AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

In 2018, on September 24, by the initiative of Associate Professor of YSU Faculty of Applied Arts and Design, Ph.D., Member of the Artists Union of Armenia Lilit Fljyan, YSU IB Faculty of Applied Art hosted a meeting with leading Armenian designer, candidate of arts, member of the Union of Artists and Designers of Armenia, Director of Teryan Cultural Center Lilit Melikyan.

Representatives of the Faculty of Applied Arts and the students of different courses were present at the meeting.

The aim of the meeting was to share the experience of the leading designer with the students of “Design” and “Applied Arts” of the University, then the leading designer presented the participants activities set out by the Teryan Cultural Center.
