SEMINAR ON “FUNDRAISING” AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

 On November 9th, 2018, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted an introductory seminar on fundraising conducted by Hayk Tiraturyan, (World Wildlife Fund) WWF-Armenia Fundraising and Partnership manager.
The seminar was attended by students and representatives of administrative and professorial staff of YSU Ijevan branch.
The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the concept of fundraising, clarify fundraising types and trends, and present international funding programs by WWF-Armenia.
Trainer Hayk Tiraturyan explained the international term “CrowdFunding” which was considered one of the most important types of fundraising, mentioned its advantages, drawbacks and risks.
A well-funded GPS system and Volterman company, producing a multifunctional wallet with cameras, which succeeded to get a $ 2.677.616 US dollars funding, from the third attempt.
During the seminar, the main functions of WWF-Armenia, its projects and programs such as the Animal Adoption project, were also presented. It was mentioned what strategic actions have been taken to finance this project (for example, provide funding entities or companies with gifts and certificates).
The seminar on “Fundraising” was in an interactive and engaging atmosphere, the students asked the trainer their questions and received exhaustive answers.

SEMINAR ON “THE ESSENCE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS” AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

On November 9, 2018, YSU Ijevan branch hosted a seminar on “Public Relations” (PR), conducted by WWF-Armenia Partnership and Communication manager Hermine Hakobyan.

The seminar was attended by YSUIB staff and students of different faculties.

The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the peculiarities of PR (Public Relations), as well as to speak about PR tools, its influence and importance in the modern world.

Agenda:
What are the prerequisites for PR formation?
What is the essence of public relations?
What is black PR?

Trainer Hermine Hakobyan underlined that PR was a phenomenon that controlled your reputation with the goal of gaining audience’s support, an opportunity to have an impact on the audience’s opinion and behavior.

The seminar was held in an interactive and engaging atmosphere.

At the end of the discussion, a video clip about PR history and its development stages was demonstrated.

Hermine Hakobyan expressed her satisfaction with the active participation and interest of our students in the training, expressing willingness to continue the cooperation.

SEMINAR ON “MEDIA LITERACY”: JOURNALISM AND SOCIETY HELD AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

 On November 8th of 2018, Ijevan branch of YSU hosted a seminar on “Media Literacy: Journalism and Society “, organized by Eurasia Partnership Foundation’s Northern Branch (EPF) together with Ijevan Branch of Yerevan State University.

The seminar was conducted by Eurasia Partnership Foundation’s Northern Branch program coordinator, Varsik Nerkararyan.

The training-discussion was attended by students of YSU IB Journalism Group, coordinator of the works with graduates and external stakeholders, public relations and media officer.

The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the essence of the media, goals and objectives, the basics of media literacy, to explain the media-society connection and the impact of the media on society.

Agenda:

  • What is media?
  • What are media tools?
  • How to orient in modern media stream?
  • How to distinguish true and false information?

It was emphasized that the purpose of the media literacy seminar was not to create a literate media producer, but rather to create a competent media consumer, and for the latter, first of all it was necessary to understand how the media was created.

Owing to group works and role-playing games organized during the seminar, the participants learned how the media was actually created.

Role-playing games also helped the participants understand how media targeted their audiences and how to understand it as a media consumer and make wise decisions.

During the seminar, the impact of the current media producers on the society has been discussed.

At the end of the seminar on “Media Literacy”: Journalism and Society, the participants received certificates.

YSU IJEVAN BRANCH HAD A MEETING WITH TAVUSH REGION SCHOOLS

On November 7th and 9th , 2018, YSUIB Department of Professional Orientation and Practice Organization had a meeting with the secondary school of Achajur village of Tavush region and senior and secondary students of Dilijan region schools.
The meeting was attended by Acting Director of YSUIB A. V. Tsutsulyan, Head of Educational-Methodological Department A. Davtyan, Head of Professional Orientation and Practice Organization Department L. Beginyan, worker of the same department A. Manucharyan, School directors, teachers and students.
The purpose of the meetings was to carry out professional orientation work in secondary schools, inform the graduating students about YSUIB admission professions of 2019 academic year and educational programs.
During the meetings, the universitarians presented general directions and specializations of YSU Ijevan Branch, the terms and conditions of university admission and privileges.
On the agenda were admission education programs of 2019 academic year, new offers and opportunities (referring to Full-time learning of the mentioned faculties (“Environment and Nature Management”, “Applied Art” and “Psychology”), exam materials and changes in admission exams. Special attention was paid to the Russian Language and Literature, which would be implemented for the first time taking into consideration the labor market demands.
In order to maintain a constant contact between the university and the region’s secondary schools, and to strengthen the school-university connection, it has been suggested to periodically conduct cognitive visits, thematic lectures and discussions, and to take advantage of Part-time learning opportunities.
The meeting was in an interactive atmosphere. The students were interested in various issues related to educational process, tuition fees discounts and privileges for students, admission exams and subjects.
The representatives of the schools expressed their contentment to the universitarians and expected the cooperation to be continuous.
