Chair of the Armenian Language and Literature

The Chair of Armenian Language and Literature has been formed since the foundation of the University.

The first Head of the Department was PhD, professor, Artashes Papoyan (1992), then PhD, Associate Professor Ashot Ter-Minasyan (1993), PhD, Associate Professor Sergey Atabekyan (1996), PhD, Associate Professor, Khachatur Vardanyan (2004).

Since 2007, PhD, Associate Professor, Vachagan Avagyan is the Head of Department.

The Department organizes training for 30 subjects, and the subject “Armenian Language and Literature” is taught at all faculties.

The Department carries out research work on various issues related to the history of Armenian literature.

The Department of Armenian Language and Literature plays a vital role in the borderline Tavush Region strategy, the organization of national, literary and artistic thinking and providing qualified Philologists, as well as skilled pedagogical staff.
