- "Wikimedia Armenia" scientific, educational, public, social wiki club was opened at Ijevan branch of YSU
First, a meeting was held between the acting director of the branch A. Makaryan, the employees of "Wikimedia Armenia" and the acting dean of the Faculty of Humanities N. Grigoryan, during which details related to the opening of the Wikiclub were discussed. It was presented that the Wikiclub at YSU IB will be coordinated by the "The Best New Wikieditor of 2023", PhD, Associate Professor N. Grigoryan.
Then, the opening ceremony of the Wikiclub took place in the Innovation Knowledge Hub of the YSU IB, which was attended by the university administration, representatives of the administrative and teaching staff and students, and employees of "Wikimedia Armenia" who arrived from Yerevan.
Arshak Shahenyan, President of the "Wikimedia Armenia" scientific and educational non-governmental organization, delivered an opening speech. He presented the organization's activities, implemented events and projects, and touched upon the role and goals of Wikiclubs.
Anushavan Makaryan, Acting Director of the YSU IB, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of the cooperation of Ijevan branch YSU and "Wikimedia Armenia", which not only allows introducing modern approaches in the field of education, enriching the creation and dissemination of quality content on wiki platforms, but also provides students with the opportunity to undergo professional practice and acquire practical skills in parallel with theoretical knowledge. Mr. Makaryan emphasized the importance of the opening the Wikiclub, which will further strengthen bilateral cooperation, contributing to the patriotic work being carried out.
The employees of "Wikimedia Armenia" also made a speech, noting that in Wikiclubs, teenagers and young people get acquainted with the nuances of editing and creating articles on Wikipedia. Those who attend the Wikiclub learn to work on the Armenian Wikipedia and other projects with the help of a coordinator. The coordinator teaches visitors the basic rules of editing, monitors the articles they create.
It was also presented that the Ijevan Wikiclub is the 9th club of "Wikimedia Armenia", and the 3rd in Tavush region (the other 2 clubs operate in Koghb and Kirants), but the Ijevan Wikiclub is unique as it was created right inside the university.
