Recently, the 22nd personal exhibition of Levon Lachikyan, Associate Professor of the Department of Tourism Management and Culturology of the Ijevan Branch of Yerevan State University, opened at the Goris Community Gallery, entitled “Urban Lyricism”. The 20 works presented reflect scenes from Goris, other cities of Syunik (Kapan, Sisian, Meghri), as well as his birthplace Gyumri, Constantinople, Venice, Prague, etc.

Local art lovers participated in the event with great enthusiasm, as many of them were well acquainted with the works of the author who arrived from Yerevan since 2010. “The thing is,” Levon Lachikyan explained in a conversation with us, “that my first exhibition was organized in Goris 16 years ago, turning it into a native settlement.” According to the artist, this pearl of the Syunik world is distinguished by the harmonious combination and solid unity of its unique nature and architecture.

Levon Lachikyan met with local artists in Goris, also being hosted at the Aksel Bakunts House-Museum. Our lecturer was expected there, as his drawing depicting that cultural institution has become one of the most spectacular exhibits for many years. The conversation that took place, in particular, with the director of the house-museum Vardan Sargsyan and the director of the Aksel Bakunts Educational and Cultural Foundation Tehmina Marutyan, outlined the ways of further cooperation.

Levon Lachikyan’s work “The Charm of Goris” replenished the collection of the Goris Community Gallery.

The exhibition was organized under the patronage of the Armenian Cultural House of Vienne, France.
