On March 27, 2025 a binary lecture on the topic "Didactics: from the past to the present" was held in a mixed (online and in-person) format with the first-year students of the "Russian Language and Literature" educational program of the Faculty of Humanities of YSU IB. Such non-traditional classes are regularly held at the YSU Ijevan branch within the framework of the "Invited Professor" project with various universities.

The lecture on the Zoom platform was jointly conducted by Natalia Igorevna Sokolova, Associate Professor of the Chair of English and Professional Communication of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Philosophy, and Svetlana Mikhailovna Minasyan, Professor of the Chair of Foreign Languages of the Ijevan branch of Yerevan State University, Doctor of Philosophy.

The goal of the lesson was to explore the concept of "Didactics", its main categories, introduce students to great educators of the past and present, reveal the essence and importance of using various teaching methods, and follow the changes in the development of pedagogical technologies.

During the lecture, modern teaching methods were demonstrated, and the use of artificial intelligence in the process of teaching and preparation for lessons by teachers was discussed. Methods of working with DeepL Write, Quizlet, Chat GPT neural networks, their advantages and disadvantages were presented. It was emphasized that it is necessary to competently combine both traditional methods and teaching methods in work, as well as the latest, advanced methods, in order to achieve educational goals.

It was emphasized that out of more than 120 methods, a modern teacher must choose the methods that are most appropriate for a given class, type of lesson, and teaching style to organize an effective lesson. He must be well versed in pedagogical terminology and be able to apply various methods and technologies in his work. All this determines the pedagogical skill of a 21st century teacher.

At the end of the lecture, students were offered a test on the SOCRATIVE.COM platform with questions related to the lecture topic, which were prepared by the lecturer. Students completed the test by entering the QR code. Lecturers had the opportunity to follow the process of students completing the test in a synchronous format and see their results on the screen. All students successfully passed the test, demonstrating good knowledge and mastery of new material on their part.
