1.to form the necessary scientific and educational base and professional potential for the development of informatics and applied mathematics in the Republic of Armenia,
2.prepare specialists in the field of informatics and applied mathematics for design, production-technological, scientific and research, organizational and management activities, who will be able;
to combine fundamental and applied mathematics knowledge for the purpose of modeling various systems, searching for information, creating, storing and using databases,
to work in scientific and scientific-industrial fields,
performing research results and process efficiency analysis in various fields.
The main objectives of the program are:
provide research and development of mathematical models and methods, algorithms, software design and testing methods, use of scientific technologies and software packages to solve applied problems,
to ensure mastering of information technology foundations, fundamental principles and methods of design, analysis and development and to form practical application skills,
develop written, oral and graphic communication and teamwork skills,
prepare graduates for diverse professional careers and jobs, as well as continuous professional development,
to create the necessary educational prerequisites for the education of graduates of the program to continue their studies with master's and research programs.
Graduates of the "Informatics and Applied Mathematics" program can start working in public and private institutions, organizations and enterprises operating in various fields of information technology, occupying the following positions:
In scientific research institutes:
researcher
engineer-mathematician,
engineer-programmer,
In state and private institutions:
engineer-mathematician, engineer-programmer,
specialist in creating and maintaining information databases,
statistical analysis specialist,
software specialist in product control departments, etc.
After completing additional pedagogical courses, graduates of the program can also work as teachers in senior, primary and secondary schools of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, as trainers in educational engineering laboratories.
Possible workplaces are: RA Ministry of Internal Affairs schools, colleges, universities, research institutes, special units of the Ministry of Defense, as well as multidisciplinary organizations operating in the field of information technologies. Graduates of the program may continue their studies at a master's degree.
To implement the “Informatics and Applied Mathematics” educational program, the faculty has 9 classrooms, one of which is equipped with technical means: a computer and a video device, two computer halls, each equipped with 20 computers and video devices, a microcontroller programming laboratory, a digital security workshop. Internet connection is available at Ijevan branch to use electronic libraries.
