Dear Universitarians, the results of the survey of external stakeholders’ opinion on students internship of YSU IB 2017-2018 academic year and its analyses are posted on the page “Reports, analyzes” section of “Quality Assurance Processes” of YSU IB official web-site.
YSU Ijevan Branch attaches special attention to periodic social surveys among external stakeholders, which allows to response to the dynamics of labor market demand. These surveys have been started since 2011 and are conducted by the Quality Assurance Division every year.
The last survey was conducted during the 2017-18 academic year in pedagogical, educational and industrial internships of students of different specialties. During the academic year:
- 98 students of full-time education system of “History”, “Psychology”, “Pedagogy and Psychology”, “Service”, “Cartography and Cadastral Business”, “Applied Art” and “Design” specialties participated in the industrial internship in the territory of RA natural and historical monuments, archeological places and museums, kindergartens and schools of Tavush Region, hotels and various objects of service sector, various social services, real estate Cadastre of Tavush Region, Ijevan Dendropark, “Karart” Closed Joint-Stock Company, “Bridge of Hope” NGO.
- 75 students of full-time education system of “History”, “English Language and Literature”, “French Language and Literature”, “Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology” participated in the pedagogical internship in Tavush Region Schools.
- 80 students of full-time education system of “History”, “Tourism”, “Service”, “Cartography and Cadastre”, “Applied Art” and “Design” participated in the educational internship in the territory of natural and historical monuments of Armenia, at different objects of the region service sector, various social and public services, Tavush regional department of real estate cadastre, Ijevan forestry and Dendropark, Ijevan art school.
357 first- fifth year students of part-time education system participated in industrial, educational and pedagogical internships for 2 or 4 weeks in the same place.
Taking into consideration that students visited places of internship in groups, the professional qualities of interns were manifested only during the industrial and pedagogical internships and, not ignoring the problems arising during the organization, a total of 33 external stakeholders were given a questionnaire. During the survey, external stakeholders assessed the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, professional skills, skills to apply modern methods, teamwork skills, pointed out professional advantages of the interns, and came up with suggestions.
According to the results of the 2017-18 academic year survey, external stakeholders highly assessed the theoretical knowledge of interns (84.9% of respondents rated excellent (36.4%) and good (48.5%), practical skills, 87.9% (excellent, 36.4%, good, 51.5%) and professional speech, 81.8% (excellent, 39.4% good, 42.4%).
