On September 3, 2024 the Student Council organized a festive event to welcome the 182 first-year students admitted to YSU IB on-site learing and to signal the start of the new academic year, the event opened with the anthem of the Republic of Armenia and the anthem of Yerevan State University.

Acting director of YSU Ijevan branch, Anushavan Makaryan, sent a congratulatory message and best wishes to all university students, especially first-year students, on the occasion of Knowledge and Education Day and the start of the new academic year (see the director's message here.)

Then, a pleasant surprise was presented to the 5 applicants who were admitted to YSU IB on a paid basis in 2024-25 academic year, with the highest entrance exams points.

First-year student of the "Tourism" educational program Artem Vahrami Tamrazyan, first-year student of the "Finance (by field)" educational program Ruzanna Gurgeni Mnatsakanyan, first-year student of the "History" educational program Lusine Artaki Janvelyan, a first-year student of the " Armenian language and Literature" educational program Lena Gariki Matinyan, , a first-year student of the "Decorative-applied art" educational program Julieta Hakobi Grigoryan.

During the event, this year's winners of the annual "Teaching Excellence Award" and "Student of the Year" contests, which have been held for the 2nd year at YSU IB, were awarded.

Mr. Makaryan presented a certificate to the acting head of the Department of Tourism Management and Cultural Studies, Professor Gurgen Hovhannisyan, for being recognized as the winner of the "Teaching Excellence Award-2024" competition, and the winner in the category "Natural Sciences" of the competition docent of the Chair of General Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Ph.D. Sergey Azaryan.

For winning the "Student of the Year-2024" competition, Sahak Geghami Gulakyan, a 4th-year student of the YSU "Informatics and Applied Mathematics" educational program, was awarded a silver medal and a certificate, Nazeli Gariki Yesayan, a 4th-year student of the "Russian Language and Literature" educational program, received certificate of winner nominee.

Then, the President of the Student Council Davit Aleksanyan and the President of the Student Scientific Society Siranush Abazyan spoke with words of greeting and congratulations.

This year's highest-scoring applicant of the branch, Mary Kareni Zakaryan, a first-year student of the "English Language and Literature" educational program, presented the freshman oath.

According to the established beautiful tradition, the 4th year student Sahak Gulakyan passed the key of knowledge to the first year student Mary Zakaryan.

The festive event was accompanied by cozy musical performances with the participation of talented students of the branch.

After the event, the members of the Student Council accompanied the students (in particular, the first-year students) to the classrooms, where the classes of the new academic year 2024-2025 began.
