- The presentation of L.Lachikyan's trilingual picture book was held at YSU IB
Members of the university's administrative and teaching staff, students, guests, representatives of the art-loving society participated in the event.
Vladimir Poghosyan, Head of YSU IB Library, Lecturer of the Chair of Armenian History and Social Studies, gave the opening speech of the presentation, presenting the picture book in general terms, as well as excerpts from the rich creative biography of the author. In particular, it was mentioned that the trilingual picture book " Constantinople: old and new" was published in Constantinople -Istanbul and includes more than 100 drawings created over a period of 10 years.
Among the biographical facts, it is noteworthy that L. Lachikyan's about 2 dozen of scientific articles have been published in domestic and foreign Armenian journals ("Bazmavep", "Handes Amsdorya", etc.) and encyclopedias ("Christonia Hayastan", "Hay Spyurq"). There are more than a thousand critical and artistic articles written by L. Lachikyan, a selection of which was published in 2004 in the form of a book ("Spirit Rings of Lightless Days"). The author's other books, in Armenian and English, were published in Yerevan and New York. For almost 2 decades, Mr. Lachikyan has been creating in the field of drawing along with art studies. He has already organized 19 solo exhibitions in his birthplace Gyumri, Goris, Yerevan, Istanbul, New York, New Jersey and elsewhere.
It is gratifying that L. Lachikyan's merit was also highly assessed, he was awarded with gold medals of RA Ministry of Culture, Gyumri Municipality and YSU, many letters of thanks and certificates of honor.
During the presentation, Gohar Virabyan and Anahit Melkonyan, 4th-year students of the "Armenian Language and Literature" and "English Language and Literature" educational programs, presented several testimonies about L. Lachikyan's art from the picture book " Constantinople: old and new" by Diaspora and native cultural figures.
Anushavan Makaryan, Acting Director of YSU IB, Associate Professor of the Chair of Armenian Language and Literature, Ph.D. Aida Sarhatyan, Assistant Professor of the Chair of Tourism Management and Cultural Studies Pavel Asilbekyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of General Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Ph.D. Sergey Azaryan gave a speech of appreciation, congratulation and thanks.
The presentation was accompanied by " Constantinople and Armenians. past and present" with an interesting and meaningful speech, at the end of which Mr. Lachikyan also answered the questions to the participants.
University students were very impressed by Levon Lachikyan's picture book, as well as by the fact of 19 individual exhibitions organized in different parts of the world. They expressed hope that the next 20th solo exhibition will be held in Ijevan.
