- Meeting with Doctor of Mathematics, Professor E. Ayvazyan, co-author of the textbook "Mathematics 6" and tour at the branch
The purpose of the study visit was to have a class meeting with Doctor of Sciences Edward Ayvazyan, Professor of the Chair of Pedagogy and Psychology and co-author of the textbook "Mathematics 6" for general education primary schools, and to conduct a tour at the branch.
First, E. Ayvazyan met the students in the Library of YSU IB, which was also attended by the Head of the Department of Organization of Internship and Cooperation with Stakeholders L. Beginyan and the employee A. Sargsyan, Acting Deans of the Faculties of Humanities and Economics N. Grigoryan and A. Margaryan.
Mr. Ayvazyan introduced the role and significance of the subject of mathematics to the students, in that context he touched upon the peculiarities of the textbook, then explained the first lesson. In his speech, he particularly noted that mathematics is as old as man. Mathematical knowledge was necessary for merchants and builders of the Ancient World, land surveyors and soldiers, architects and monks building temples and fortresses, travelers and sailors. The language of mathematics is a universal value. It is the language of the human mind, and successfully mastering it implies the ability and skill to count, think, and make ingenious solutions.
During the meeting, the students had a unique opportunity to receive answers to their questions directly from the author of the textbook, which mainly related to the author's path, choice of profession, and difficulties encountered while writing the textbook.
Then, a tour was organized for the students. G. Gulakyan, a lecturer at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, introduced the students to the research work and technological developments of the students in the Agrotechnology Laboratory. V. Aghababyan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts, presented the students with the works done by the students in the fields of sculpture, pottery, carpet weaving, and glass painting in the studios.
The students were greatly impressed by the visit to the Ijevan branch of YSU and the meeting with the author of the textbook and expressed a wish for such initiatives to be continuous.
