On April 29, 2025 an event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held at the Ijevan branch of YSU, organized by the Student Council Culture Committee.

The event was attended by members of the YSU IB administrative and teaching staff, students, and guests.

First, a brief overview of the Armenian Genocide was given. In particular, it was noted that the Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923 were subjected to unprecedented mass crimes planned and carried out by the Young Turk government: brutal murders, rapes, and forced deportations.

It was emphasized that the beginning of the Great Genocide is conventionally considered to be April 24, 1915. On that day, the key intelligentsia was arrested in Constantinople: 600 Armenian intellectuals, including Grigor Zohrap, Daniel Varuzhan, Ruben Zardaryan, Siamanto (Atom Yarchanyan), Yerukhan (Yervand Srmakeshkhanyan), Ruben Sevak, Hovhannes Harutyunyan, and others, who were later killed on the way to exile.

During the event, songs and poems on the theme of the Armenian Genocide were performed ("Aprelu april", "Tun im hayreni", "Zartir, Lao", "10 million hay", "Hishir", etc.), excerpts from literary and artistic works were read, Zohrap's letter was read, and a performance was staged.

At the end, the idea of national unity was substantiated with a symbolic number.
