On June 26, 2026, a group of employees of the YSU Sargis and Marie Izmirlian Library visited the YSU Ijevan branch to exchange experience and donate professional literature.

After a tour of the YSU IB Library, familiarization with the working conditions of the library service and reading room, a round table discussion was held with library specialists, in which Anushavan Makaryan, Advisor to the Director of the YSU IB, participated. During the discussion, issues of servicing professional and fiction literature, writing off lost and outdated literature, and promoting the use of international scientific and information databases were raised.

The Head of the YSU IB Library, V. Poghosyan, presenting the capabilities and working conditions of the university library, thanked the Alma Mater Library for always being by the side of the YSU IB Library, providing it with a large amount of literature, and providing programmatic and methodological support. The latter particularly emphasized the provision of a large number of professional and educational-methodological literature, as well as library software and methodological guides, which significantly contributed to increasing the efficiency of the branch library.

In his speech, YSU IB Director's Advisor A. Makaryan noted the active support of the YSU leadership and the library in overcoming the obstacles during the formation and establishment of the library. A. Makaryan expressed hope that such visits will become regular, allowing for a faster response to new challenges in the library sector and the exchange of best practices.

Several additional directions were proposed to make the visits more effective.

  • Master classes for students: courses on the effective use of library resources, the formulation of bibliographic references, and the development of information search skills for research work.

  • Professional seminar-meetings for librarians, dedicated to new library programs, digitization processes, and modern library management approaches.

  • Creation of a joint digital platform for a unified catalog of electronic resources and rare publications, which will allow increasing accessibility for both students and lecturers.

In order to make the visit of the Alma Mater library staff to the YSU Ijevan branch more saturated and impressive, a tour of the Ijevan city park and the riverside street was organized, after which the guests visited Makarvank.

This visit once again showed that the ties between the Alma Mater and the branch are strong, and the development of the library system continues based on innovative approaches and mutual understanding.
