The meeting discussed the approval of the YSU IB Director and the annual work plan, preparatory work for the new 2025-2026 academic year, the provision of scholarships for the 1st semester of the 2025-26 academic year (Vazgen Sargsyan, Monte Melkonyan), the results of the on-site admissions for this academic year, issues related to the admission process of graduates of secondary vocational educational institutions (colleges) implemented at the YSU IB.
First, Mr. Otaryan introduced the new member of the board, the newly appointed acting dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of YSU IB, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor R. Yolchyan to the participants of the session, wishing him fruitful and effective work, then the agenda items were discussed.
The first question concerned the annual work plan of the YSU IB Board, which included the main works related to the organization of the educational process for the 2025-2026 academic year, with their responsibilities, deadlines, and cooperating departments. The annual work plan of the Board was approved, along with the proposed changes.
Regarding the preparatory work for the 2025-26 academic year, it was reported that the necessary work has been carried out in relation to the individual workload of the teaching staff, course lists, textbooks, distribution of classroom funds by courses and groups, etc. The approved course lists have been posted on the official website of YSU IB and sent to the e-mail addresses of the lecturers. YSU IB is ready for the start of the new academic year.
In connection with the provision of nominal scholarships for the 1st semester of this academic year, the candidacies of students proposed by the faculties were discussed, and it was decided to submit them for approval at the upcoming meeting of the Academic Council. The candidacies of students applying for the “Vazgen Sargsyan” and “Monte Melkonyan” nominal scholarships provided by the Ministry of Defense were approved at the meeting of the Board of Directors.
On the next question, regarding the results and problems of admission to the 2025-26 academic year, it was noted that 272 applicants applied to the branch this academic year (this number has increased by 25% compared to the previous year), of which 193 were admitted (according to the results of the 1st stage competition: 186, according to the results of the vacant competition: 7 applicants).
Compared to the previous year, the number of applicants admitted to the YSU Ijevan branch has increased by about 6% (182/193 applicants). All free of charge places have been filled. In general, a positive dynamic is noticeable.
The highest admission rates were recorded in the educational programs "Finance (by field)" (54 applicants), "Tourism" (37 applicants), "Informatics" (35 applicants), "English Language and Literature" (32 applicants), "History" (30 applicants), "Design" (21 applicants). Relatively low rates were recorded in the educational programs "Russian Language and Literature" (8 applicants), "Armenian Language and Literature" (8 applicants), "French Language and Literature" (7 applicants).
The last question concerned the admission process of graduates of secondary vocational educational institutions (colleges) implemented at the YSU IB. It was noted that by August 29, 27 graduates of secondary vocational educational institutions have applied to the branch's distance learning system. The process of accepting documents will continue until August 30.
At the end of the session, YSU IB Director M. Otaryan congratulated the university staff on the start of the new academic year and wished them an effective educational process.
