- The second international autumn school on "Exploring local heritage" opened at YSU IB
This year, 5 students from the University of Salzburg and 10 students from Ijevan branch of YSU are participating in the International Autumn School.
The opening ceremony was attended by Anushavan Makaryan, Advisor to the Director of the YSU IB, Director of the Institute for Christian Oriental Studies of the University of Salzburg, Head of the Department of Armenian Studies, Doctor, Professor Yasmin Dum-Tragut, Co-Director of the Remote Laboratory “Interdisciplinary Studies of Armenian Cultural Heritage” of the Institute of Armenian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Haykuhi Muradyan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of YSU IB Natella Grigoryan, lecturers and students.
A. Makaryan, H. Muradyan and Y. Dum-Tragut delivered opening speeches. They welcomed the attendees, highlighted the importance of holding the International Autumn School at YSU IB for the second year, and presented its goals and objectives.
It was noted that this year the international autumn school will consist of lectures and field research. Lectures will be held at the university, and field work will be carried out at the Arakelots Monastery and in the settlement. It was presented that within the framework of the autumn school, students will get acquainted with some episodes of the history of the region, the activities of religious structures, the methodology of researching historical events through the study of archival documents, and will participate in a hiking trip, carrying out field research.
The autumn school is coordinated by Professor Yasmin Dum-Tragut of the University of Salzburg and Co-Director of the “Interdisciplinary Studies of Armenian Cultural Heritage” Remote Laboratory of the Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the RA Haykuhi Muradyan.
At the opening, Professor Yasmine Dum-Tragut also presented a speech on the topic of "An Introduction to Cultural Heritage" and touched upon heritage, its different types: natural, cultural, tangible and intangible.
Then a meeting was held between the school coordinators and the students participating in the school, and a number of organizational and content issues were discussed.
The autumn school will last 5 days, and at the end, students will be awarded certificates.
