On October 22, 2025, the official opening ceremony of the Psychological and Educational Counseling Center was held at Ijevan branch of YSU, which was attended by YSU IB Director Mher Otaryan, YSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Elina Asriyan, YSU Vice-Rector for Development and Innovations Mikael Hovhannisyan, Tavush Deputy Governor Narek Ghushchyan, members of the university teaching staff, students, and representatives of organizations operating in the psychological and social fields.

Mher Otaryan, Director of YSU Ijevan Branch, delivered an opening speech, touching upon the idea of ​​creating the center. The director noted that the center is designed to complement the university scientific, educational and community mission, while simultaneously responding to the growing demand for psychological support and consulting services in the region. "This center is an important platform for not only professional but also human support for our region, which will contribute to raising the level of public awareness, psychological intelligence and quality of life."

The head of the center, candidate of psychological sciences, associate professor Laura Petrosyan, delivered a welcoming and opening speech, touching upon the mission, goals, and main areas of activity of the center. She emphasized that the main goal of the structure is to reveal human potential, maintain psychological health, and improve the quality of life. The center plans to conduct both individual and group consultations, as well as professional training.

Then, YSU Vice-Rectors E. Asriyan and M. Hovhannisyan made speeches, emphasizing in their speeches the importance of the center in the YSU regional development strategy, as well as its role in the formation of students’ practical skills and the promotion of scientific research activities.

YSU IB Professor of the Chair of Pedagogy and Psychology, Doctor of Science, Ruben Aghuzumtsyan and students of the “Psychology” educational program spoke about the importance of the center and their willingness to support its activities. Mr. Aghuzumtsyan expressed his conviction that this structure will become a bridge of cooperation between the university, the community and professional organizations.

At the end of the event, the guests toured the center, got acquainted with the structure of services and logistical conditions, and talked with the center specialists and students.

The YSU IB Psychological, Educational Consulting Center is the only specialized structure in the region that provides science-based and accessible psychological services aimed at revealing a person's potential, self-knowledge, and promoting a psychologically healthy life.
