- Professors of Smolensk State University at Ijevan branch of YSU
The purpose of the visit was to deliver a lecture on the topic "Armenian Text in Russian Literature" for students of the "Russian Language and Literature" educational program of the Faculty of Humanities of YSU IB.
First, the meeting of the professors of Smolensk State University with the Director of YSU IB M. Otaryan took place, in which the acting dean of the Faculty of Humanities of YSU IB N. Grigoryan, professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, S. Minasyan and lecturer of the same department E. Shuvaeva participated. During the meeting, the purpose and objectives of the professors' visit, issues related to the cooperation of the two universities were discussed, then Mr. Otaryan presented certificates of appreciation to professors I. Romanova and L. Pavlova for effective cooperation and, in particular, for organizing an international conference with the active participation of representatives of Smolensk University and the YSU IB.
Then, professors from Smolensk State University presented the results of their research entitled “Armenian Text in Russian Poetry: Research Results and Prospects” to the students of the Ijevan branch of YSU.
According to Irina Romanova, the main goal of the project was to create an online resource that would be accessible to both specialists - philologists, cultural historians, and a wide audience.
"We tried to include as much information as possible on one website, both publicly available and narrowly specialized - scientific. That's how our website was created, which is unique in its essence and has no equal. It presents all the poems dedicated to Armenia in electronic form, with an indication of the authors, dates of writing, places of publication and time. The website has a search engine, and also includes dictionaries and indexes that allow you to analyze the linguistic picture of the world, how Armenia is reflected in language," Romanova noted.
Larisa Pavlova singled out the following question: “To whom and what is the consciousness of a Russian person directed when he writes about Armenia?” The image of Armenia in Russian literature, both classical and modern, was studied through the prism of perception, through taste, color, and sensory analogies. Special attention was paid to poetry responding to the tragedy of the Armenian Genocide of 1915, when Russian writers deeply and emotionally conveyed the pain of the Armenian people. The research is conditionally called “Poetic Encyclopedia of the Armenian World.”
“Since the focus of our analysis is on vocabulary, we came to the conclusion that the main object of attention is the linguistic picture of the world. We started with the analysis of words and interpreted them in the context of literary studies, history, culturology and other branches of science. Thus, a system of dictionaries was created that accompanies and interprets our conclusions,” added Irina Romanova.
The professors highly appreciated the scientific interest of the students of YSU IB “Russian Language and Literature” educational program, who participated in the international conference “Modern Ways of Studying Literature” organized by Smolensk State University on May 14-16. The third-year students were awarded diplomas, and lecturer E. Shuvaeva was awarded a certificate of appreciation for assisting the students in preparing their speeches. The best works will be published in the scientific journal of Smolensk University.
Let us add that the event was actively attended by the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities N. Grigoryan, Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of YSU IB, PhD S. Minasyan, Associate Professor of the same department, PhD M. Zurabyan, and Lecturer E. Shuvaeva.
