On October 23, 2025, a lecture on the topic “Introduction to the electronic databases of the National Library of Armenia and improvement of skills in using scientific literature” was held at Ijevan branch of YSU, in which representatives of the teaching staff of YSU IB participated. It was conducted by the head of the library V. Poghosyan.
The speaker presented the online databases of the National Library of Armenia, their capabilities and applicability in the process of conducting scientific research.
It was noted that from the point of view of improving research capabilities and the applicability of scientific literature, as well as primary sources, the online databases of the National Library provide a full opportunity to use the main Armenian-language literature and press.
The presentation presented the “Hay Girq” and “Hay Mamul” databases, the possibilities of using and searching for them. It was noted that the “Hay Mamul” database contains 7 million or more pages of Armenian-language newspapers and magazines in their original versions, which especially increases and expands the interest of researchers, the opportunities for using various newspapers and magazines, and collecting information online. The availability of online versions of newspapers published in Ijevan was particularly important, which is not only important for studying the history of the region and the city, but also for the interests of researchers in other disciplines and for the formation of a scientific base.
