- Open lesson on "Speech disorders and PEGS: alternative communication
The open lesson was conducted by I. Ponomarenko, assistant professor of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology; the 3rd year students of the “Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology” educational program and the 4th year students of the “Armenian Language and Literature” educational program participated.
Representatives of the administrative and teaching staff were present: Acting Dean of the Faculty, PhD, Associate Professor N. Grigoryan, Acting Head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, PhD, Associate Professor L. Harutyunyan, PhD, Associate Professor A. Ghazaryan, students.
During the open lesson, the goal and objectives of the lesson were discussed, and a brief historical overview of the topic was given.
The students presented the developmental disorders of speech and psycholinguistic function, emphasizing the role of the PECS method of alternative communication in the process of developing speech and communication skills.
The open class discussion was conducted using interactive methods, questions and answers, and small role-playing situations.
The students also presented the PECS package they had prepared during the practical class. The practical part of the class was summarized using the “6 Thinking Hats” method by Edward De Bono.
After the practical part, the students were informed about new material on the procedure and stages of developing an individual learning plan (ILP).
At the end, the acting dean of the faculty N. Grigoryan and the associate professor of the department A. Ghazaryan expressed their satisfaction with the open class.
