On December 16, 2025, within the framework of a working visit to Tavush region, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece in the RA, Christos Sofianopoulos, visited Ijevan branch of YSU.

First, the Director of YSU IB M. Otaryan welcomed and thanked Mr. Sofianopoulos for his visit to Ijevan branch of YSU.

Then, the delegation met with students of the “English and Literature” educational program, which was attended by the Director of the YSU IB M. Otaryan, Deputy Governor of Tavush region Narek Ghushchyan, Head of the Educational and Methodological Department A. Davtyan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities N. Grigoryan, and lecturers of the Chair of Foreign Languages.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to the Republic of Armenia, Christos Sofianopoulos, spoke about the close ties between Greece and Armenia, which have a very long history, and noted the similarities in the economic, political and cultural spheres of the two countries.

During the meeting, Armenian-Greek ties and areas of cooperation (political, security, educational and cultural) were discussed.

A discussion was held, during which the students received answers to their questions from the Ambassador. The students were especially interested in the educational opportunities for Armenian students in Greece, the labor market requirements in Greece, exchange programs, etc.

The Director of YSU IB once again thanked the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece in the RA, Christos Sofianopoulos, for his visit to the YSU Ijevan branch and his willingness to cooperate, and on behalf of the branch presented him with the “Varagavank” stained glass window by Lena Khalatyan, a fourth-year student of the “Design” educational program of the Faculty of Applied Arts.
