On January 5, 2026, the results of the VII International Scientific Competition "Best Student 2025", held in December 2025 by the International Center for Scientific Partnership "New Science" in Petrozavodsk, Russian Federation, were summarized.

Under the scientific supervision of the Acting Head of the Chair of General Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the YSU IB, Associate Professor, Candidate of Chemistry Gevorg Simonyan, Armine Geghami Gulakyan, a 3rd-year student of the "Informatics and Applied Mathematics" educational program of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, participated in the competition.

The work "On the Random Choice of One of Two Possible Alternatives" presented by our student was awarded a first-class diploma in the "Physical and Mathematical Sciences" nomination.

For supporting the presentation of the scientific work, the management of the "New Science" "International Center for Scientific Partnership" also awarded a certificate of appreciation to the Director of the YSU IB Mher Otaryan.

On January 10, a solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas was held at the Ijevan branch of YSU, which was attended by the Director of the YSU IB M. Otaryan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences R. Yolchyan, Acting Head of the Chair of General Mathematics and Natural Sciences G. Simonyan, and 3rd year student A. Gulakyan.

Mr. Otaryan, congratulating A. Gulakyan on becoming a prize winner, noted that the prize is also valued for the fact that it was awarded in the “Physical and Mathematical Sciences” nomination, and this success is the best example of long-term and effective cooperation between a scientific supervisor and a student within the framework of organizing student scientific work.

Let us add that in 2025, under the supervision of G. Simonyan, A. Gulakyan’s article “A Surprising Situation with Non-Transitional Pairs” was also published in the scientific journal “Student Bulletin” of the Russian Federation.
