On October 3, 2026, ahead of Teachers' Day, a seminar-discussion was held at the Ijevan Branch of YSU, attended by specialists in primary education and methodology from general education institutions in the Tavush Region. M. Otaryan, Director of the YSU Ijevan Branch; A. Makaryan, Advisor to the Director; and N. Grigoryan, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities were present at the event.

During the seminar, Ruben Topchyan (Director of the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor) and lecturers from the YSU Ijevan Branch, Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, Knarik Hovhannisyan (PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor) and Melanya Barseghyan (PhD in Pedagogy, Assistant Professor), addressed the methodology for exploring key concepts and sub-concepts in the primary school mathematics curriculum; effective means for developing and continuously updating teachers' subject-specific and pedagogical-methodological competencies; principles of formative assessment; as well as current issues and development prospects in primary education. The discussions also focused on issues related to developing students' mathematical thinking, analyzing errors, effectively organizing feedback during the learning process, and the professional development and continuous learning of teachers.

Participating teachers shared their experiences, highlighted challenges encountered during teaching and their professional needs, and took part in practical discussions.

According to the speakers, the discussions held during the meeting, the issues raised by the teachers, and the analysis of research findings regarding professional needs could serve as a vital foundation for the continuous improvement of the "Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology" educational program at YSU Ijevan Branch. The observations and feedback gathered can contribute to the review and modernization of both curricula and individual course content, as well as to a clearer definition of sectoral priorities.

Emphasis was placed on the continuity of professional collaboration between universities and schools, and on the creation of platforms that integrate academic knowledge, the practical experience of teachers, and the actual needs of the education system.

Plans are in place to make such meetings and discussions a regular occurrence in order to ensure ongoing professional dialogue and feedback, and to strengthen the link between educational programs and school practice.
