DISCUSSION OF THE BOOK “THE LEAF” WRITTEN BY NAIRA PIRUMYAN

DSCN4869 On November 30th,2018, YSU Ijevan Branch Library hosted a meeting with the lecturers of the Department of Armenian Language and Literature, students of the “Armenian Language and Literature” specialty and contemporary writer, YSUIB graduate Naira Pirumyan,  and literary critic Ani Pashayan.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the short stories of Naira Pirumyan’s “the leaf” collection.

YSUIB Acting Director A. V. Tsutsulyan, Head of the Department of Armenian Language and Literature V. Avagyan made an opening speech.

The lecturers and students of “Armenian language and literature” specialty (Lusine Melkumyan, Anna Dovlatbekyan, Mane Yeganyan, Gohar Mkhitaryan and others), presented interesting and influential speeches.

Lecturer of the Department of Armenian Language and Literature, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of Armenian Language and Literature, Aida Sarhatyan gave a unique report on one of the short stories of “The leaf” collection, “30cm”, emphasizing the author’s figurative, straightforward and clear language, the philosophical depths, the tactless storyline, the autobiographical character, the saturation of the human soul with dramatic emotions. “The first feeling that the reader lives while reading Naira Pirumian’s short stories is a figurative, straightforward, clear language, with philosophical depths … “30cm” story has  autobiographical content … The author’s language is fluent, the storyline is tough. Episodes of hospital life are full of love and natural color. The story is like a bunch of novels filled with dramatic emotions of the human soul. Here is a drama of love of Sabah from Hordanan and the love of Persian-Armenian Razmik. Life could not connect them because of different religions or the love of Kostya and the lovely Dasha, which was interrupted by the boy’s parents request. The colorful portraits of other heroes were also created with a small, but colorful brush … The most interesting thing is the story of a girl’s painful love, Todor’s love that was desirable, impossible and incredible to be true, and their kisses flooded with tears … “

Afterwards, Naira Pirumyan, the author of the book and literary critic Ani Pashayan, answered students’ questions about the history of the book, modern literature and writers in general.
