At Ijevan branch of YSU meeting of the Academic Council was held under the chairmanship of M. M. Otaryan, , which was attended by members of the YSU IB Academic Council, including YSU Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs Rafael Barkhudaryan.

The session discussed the implementation of the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan for the Development of YSU IB in 2024, issues related to the results of student surveys on the quality and effectiveness of teaching at YSU IB for the 2023-2024 academic year, and the reports of the Faculties of Economics and Humanities for the 2023-2024 academic year, according to the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan of YSU IB, were presented.

The list of students receiving nominal scholarships for the 2nd semester of the 2024-2025 academic year of YSU IB and the tuition fees for the 2025-2026 academic year by specialties (educational programs) were approved.

Director’s advisor of YSU IB A. Makaryan reported on the implementation of the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan for the Development of YSU IB in 2024. In his report, Mr. Makaryan touched upon the main issues and actions arising from the 3 strategic goals (High-quality education, Science and innovation, Public engagement), which were identified for implementation in 2024. In 2024 the short-term plan provided for 15 tasks and 34 actions under three goals (based on the meeting of the Academic Council of YSU IB No. 72 of March 16, 2024, Appendix 2). It was presented that during the reporting period, YSU IB carried out its activities in accordance with that short-term plan arising from the 2022-2026 development strategic plan, emphasizing the quality of education and its continuous improvement. The branch remained faithful to its mission and sought to achieve the goals set out in the plan through its activities.

Head of the Educational and Methodological Department A. Davtyan reported on the results of student surveys for the 2023-2024 academic year on the quality and effectiveness of teaching at YSU IB. It was noted that the Student Survey on the Quality and Efficiency of Teaching at the Ijevan Branch of YSU was organized by the Educational and Methodological Department jointly with the faculties in accordance with the “Student Survey Procedure on the Quality and Efficiency of Teaching at Yerevan State University”, questionnaire and schedule (the first semester surveys were conducted from February 10 to March 7 for students of on-site education, from March 22 to April 30 for students of off-site education, and the second semester surveys were conducted from July 1 to September 7 for students of on-site and off-site education ). In both the on-site and off-site education systems, the surveys were conducted online, via university e-mail addresses.

483 out of 1136 on-site students of the branch (42.52% of the main student body) participated in the surveys for the 2023-2024 academic year, and out of 894 distance learning students 178 (19.91% of the students ).

The first two questions of the questionnaire, which refer to corruption phenomena, do not constitute a percentage in the branch. The third question of the questionnaire refers to the work of educational program coordinator. In the on-site and off-site learning system, 173 students answered the question, of which 159 (92%) considered the work of educational program coordinator effective. 

The other questions refer to the assessment of the work of the faculties, dean's offices, professional chairs and lecturers in organizing and implementing education. The survey results were sent to the faculties and professional chairs for discussion at meetings, for the submission of a package of proposals on the expressed opinions and proposals, and for solving problems.

It was proposed to carry out relevant work among students in order to ensure a high rate of their participation in the surveys and a more objective picture.

The acting deans of the Faculties of Economics and Humanities, Associate Professor A. Margaryan and Associate Professor N. Grigoryan, presented the results of the work carried out in the 2023-2024 academic year in accordance with the action plans developed by the faculties.

In their reports, the deans particularly addressed the main successes or achievements recorded as a result of the implementation of the actions and the use of them to further improve the efficiency of the faculty's activities, failures or difficulties, the main reasons for their occurrence, and the steps to be taken to overcome them.

According to YSU IB 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, the reports for the 2023-2024 academic year presented by the deans of the two faculties were taken into consideration, and according to the voting results, the activities carried out at the faculties in the given academic year were assessed as satisfactory.

The Director of the Ijevan Branch of YSU M. Otaryan reported on the issue of tuition fees for the 2025-26 academic year. He particularly noted that the issue was discussed at the 2025 YSU IB Directorate meeting at the meeting of January 18 (https://ijevan.ysu.am/news/5150). And taking into account the social situation of the population of the region and other circumstances typical of the border region, it was decided to propose to the Academic Council of YSU Ijevan branch to make minor changes to the tuition fees for the 2025-2026 academic year.

At the meeting of the Academic Council, it was decided by open vote to approve the draft of the tuition fees for admission to Ijevan branch of YSU for the 2025-2026 academic year.
