On February 19, 2026, an event dedicated to Book Giving Day was held at Ijevan branch of YSU, which was attended by YSU IB Director M. Otaryan, Director's Advisor A. Makaryan, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities N. Grigoryan, library employees, representatives of the university's administrative and teaching staff, and students of various faculties.

Vladimir Poghosyan, Head of the YSU IB Library, made an opening speech, noting particularly: "February 19, the birthday of Hovhannes Tumanyan, has been celebrated as Book Giving Day since 2008, on the initiative of Levon Ananyan, President of the Writers' Union, and by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. A book is the content of our life, the most accessible means of realizing our thoughts and ideas. The role of writing and books as the most accessible means of transmitting past experience, knowledge, and information is undeniable in the formation of human society. Modern society is the key beneficiary of the printing revolution. Book Giving Day is another way to revalue and appreciate the role of books and printing.”

YSU IB Director M. Otaryan made a speech, noting that the role of books and literary heroes is significant in the life of each individual. Reading a book and studying the various experiences of human and public life through a book contributes to the formation of individual qualities. An individual turns to a book for help throughout his life and especially in times of difficulties. He called on students to love books and literature, to have in mind and follow their favorite literary heroes, idealized artistic characters.

Then, Associate Professor of the Department of Armenian Language and Literature, Candidate of Philology A. Sarhatyan made a speech, emphasizing the role of the first book and literary hero in the life of a pupil, student, and a person in general.

The discussion was actively attended by the Advisor to the Director of YSU IB, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor A. Makaryan, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor N. Grigoryan, Associate Professor of the Department of Armenian Language and Literature, Candidate of Philology L. Tumanyan, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, Candidate of Philology M. Zurabyan, Acting Head of the Department of Armenian History and Social Studies, Candidate of Sciences Associate Professor A. Azatyan.

During the discussion, students asked questions and received answers to their questions from the speakers.

At the end, the participants of the event received books from the exchange and donation fund of the YSU IB library.
