On 17^th of May, 2019, YSU hosted “the Best Student of YSU” annual contest dedicated to the 100^th Anniversary of YSU Foundation and 25^th Anniversary of Student Council, followed by a festive concert with participation of Sona Rubenyan and Garik Papoyan.

 Syuzanna Shahnazaryan, 4th- year student of English Language and Literature Department,Faculty of Humanities of YSU Ijevan Branch became the winner of “YSU Best Student -2019” contest.

The aim of the contest is to encourage progress of the students of bachelor and Master programs of YSU and to boost their scientific and public activity.

Students of all faculties and centers implementing Master programs of YSU who had been YSU(including Ijevan Branch) students for at least 4 terms, had high performance during the last two terms (coefficient 15 and above), as well as have the achievements described in “Best Student of YSU” regulations can participate in the contest.

 20 students of different faculties of YSU and Ijevan Branch have won the contest, for which they will receive nominal scholarships.

From YSU Ijevan Branch, Syuzanna Shahnazaryan, a 4th-year student of “English language and Literature” specialty, won the “Best YSU Student -2019” contest.

 Welcoming the participants,  YSU Rector particularly put forward:  “I am jealous of those students who will be the best student of YSU on its 100th anniversary.  I think they will remember it forever.  I want to congratulate and say that it is a great honor to be the best student of the university and at the same time a great responsibility because we, all universitarians, have this responsibility to keep the honor of our Mother University. “

 YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Affairs Ruben Markosyan, Director of YSU Student Affairs Center Vahagn Varagyan and YSU Student Council Chairman Davit Apoyan (see details here) expressed their heartfelt congratulations and handed prizes.

  On May 17, 2019, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted a lecture entitled “The Present and Future in the Context of Archeology of Tavush Region”, conducted by the researcher of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, archeologist Irena Kalantaryan.

 For about ten years, I. Kalantaryan has been engaged in the exploration of the Getahovit-2 cave in Ijevan, managing an archaeological expedition.  She has been a co-founder of the Armenian-French joint expedition for two years in the field, which has carried out work on identifying monuments.

The lecture aimed at introducing the results of the archeological works in the region, the new achievements in the scientific sphere.

Kalantaryan first touched upon the great contributors of the archeological heritage study in the region, and then briefly spoke about the “Getahovit-2” cave and Hovk tomb field in Dilijan. She introduced the degree of their study, the importance of the monuments, the current problems, the importance of the archeological material, the problems in science, the need for study, and the prospects of use.

 The  seminar discussed issues related to the archeological works to be done in the region, possibilities of involving the Branch students within the framework of the internship, the possibilities of incorporating monuments in the development of tourism in the region and its importance. The archeological monument-tourism venue, developed by her and its importance, was perhaps the most vital part of the lecture.

 At the end, Irena Kalantaryan and the participants of the discussion touched upon the interest of the new generation in the field of archeological heritage, their behavior, the most frequently encountered phenomena and other similar issues.

On 16^th of May, 2019, on the occasion of the launch of Psychological Center, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted a seminar-training on “Emotional Intelligence (EQ)”, conducted by Lecturer of YSUIB Pedagogy and Psychology Department Ashkhen Mkoyan, who is the founder and head of  “Harmony” Psychological Center, has seven years of work experience in practical psychology, and conducted trainings in Armenia, Georgia and Russia.

 The seminar was attended by members of the administrative and professorial staff of Ijevan Branch of Yerevan State University and students.

On the agenda were the essence of emotional intelligence, how it influences our lives, learning and work efficiency of the people, how to develop EQ, why emotions often hinder the achievement of the goal.

 The speaker put forward four important skills to effectively use emotions:

1. Clearly perceive emotions of your own and others’.

2. Use emotions to solve problems.

3. Understand the causes of emotions.

4. Control your own and other people’s emotions.

 The training was conducted in an interactive atmosphere, accompanied by psychological exercises.

The participants also learned a number of tricks to recognize and control their own emotions.

The seminar-training on “Emotional Intelligence (EQ)” announced the launch of the newly opened Psychological Center at YSUIB.

  On May 16th, 2019, Shushanik Grigoryan, Lecturer of the Department English language and Literature organized an open lesson with the first-year students of “Service” specialty of the Faculty of Economics.

The lesson was attended by  Acting Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Associate Professor Gayane Avetisyan, Assistant Professor of Tourism Management and Culturology Pavel Asilbekyan, lecturer Sveta Safaryan, students and applicants.

 First-year students of “Service” specialty introduced in English the Armenian sights of Tavush region (Moro Dzoro Church, Vardan Mamikonyan’s Tree, Lastiver Resort Hotel, Ijevan Wine and Brandy Factory, Dendropark, etc.).

 During the lesson, the songs “Rag’n’Bone Man-Human” and “People Help” were performed.

The students also represented the story of Ijevan, Ijevan Museum, and Getahovit Resort, via a video made by them.

 Shushanik Grigoryan touched upon Hovhannes Tumanyan’s poetry, in memory of his 150^th Anniversary and then the students introduced the poem “The Armenian Genocide” in English.

 Then, the participants congratulated each other on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Yerevan State University, emphasizing the invaluable role and contribution of YSU in the educational and cultural life of the Republic of Armenia.

 Acting Dean of the Faculty of Economics G. Avetisyan conveyed her contentment and gratitude for the open lesson, underlining that the presence of applicants at similar events was welcomed.
